SV Darmstadt 98

SV Darmstadt 98 achieved a nice 1-0 victory over SC Paderborn in the first round, but got defeated by St.Pauli with 2-0 in the second round. SV Darmstadt 98 were constantly near relegation places in the 2.Bundesliga last season, but had a very strong run in the last month of the season and managed to finish as 10th on the table. Interestingly, counting the last few months of the last season, SV Darmstadt 98`s games were very tight games with not many goals scored. As many as 11 of their last 13 competitive matches had ended with less than two goals scored.



MSV Duisburg

MSV Duisburg were a top side last season and finished eight points behind promotion places, but they opened this season very poorly. They lost both of their league games so far, 1-0 against Dynamo Dresden and 0-2 against Vfl Bochum. MSV Dusiburg`s recent record against SV Darmstadt 98 has also been poor, as they lost in three of their last four head to head matches, winning just once. It is still early in the season, but if MSV Duisburg loses third time in a row then they will hardly repeat last season`s success when they finished as 7th on the 2.Bundesliga table.



THE BETTING VERDICT

Both teams showed poor attacking displays in the opening two games, although SV Darmstadt 98 left a bit better impression overall. This should be a tight affair with both sides looking to remain unbeaten, so I do not expect to see many goals. Considering the way both sides played so far, I would take under 2.5 goals to be scored in this game
