REAL MADRID
It feels like it is all change at Real Madrid with Zinedine Zidane replaced by former Spain manager Julen Lopetegui and the new face in charge has to answer a very tough question in his first season as manager of this famous club. Namely how do you replace a player who has scored 450 goals in the famous white shirt now that Cristiano Ronaldo has been sold to Juventus. In previous years Real Madrid would have made a huge signing to make up for big names leaving the club, but that has not been the case this summer and the pressure will be on Gareth Bale to replace Ronaldo. The 2-4 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup will have made a few fans pretty nervy as their Real Madrid team have to make up 17 points to Champions Barcelona. Real Madrid may have been disappointed with their 12-4-3 record at home in the League last season but they did win yet another Champions League and there is still enough quality in the squad to get much closer to Barcelona. The side have only lost 1 of their last 11 games in normal time, but Real Madrid only won 2 of their last 6 games at home in all competitions. Luka Modric has been another big name linked with a move away from Real Madrid but he should start this weekend. Thibaut Courtois is the biggest signing Real Madrid have made, but is not guaranteed the starting goalkeeper spot.
GETAFE
In previous years the teams coming up from the Segunda Division would have been in for a really tough season in the top flight of Spanish Football. However Girona and Getafe both surprised in the 2017/18 season and it was Getafe who finished the best of the promoted teams in 8th place and barely missing out on a Europa League spot. Only 3 points separated Getafe from a return to the Europa League but it was still a very strong season and they are looking to build on it by bringing in players like Jaime Mata and a number of young players looking for a break at this level. They finished the campaign with a very respectable 6-7-7 away record in the League. Getafe fell short of the Europa League spots despite a very good run to end the season with 5 wins from their final 7 League games and a single loss in that time. The away record was improved down the stretch too as Getafe won 5 of their final 6 away League games, while they won't roll over for Real Madrid having lost just 3 away games at the top seven last season.
HEAD TO HEAD
Real Madrid did the League double over Getafe last season which included a 3-1 win at home. Real Madrid have won 9 home games in a row against Getafe and the last 8 of those have come by two or more goals.
