INTRODUCTION

Rayo Vallecano who gained promotion from the Srgunda will open their campaign against last season's Cup finalist Sevilla. Rayo Vallecano's main aim is to stay in La Liga this season while Sevilla will want to finish higher then their seventh place finishing last season. Sevilla was forced to play in the Europa League Qualifiers due to their seventh place finishing last season as well. They did however lose to Barcelona in the Spanish Su0per Cup last weekend.



RAYO VALLECANO

After a two years absence they are now back in La Liga. After relegation in their first season in Segunda they played very poorly. In their second season they played much better and finished as the Champion. Now their main aim is to stay in La Liga after it was not easy to get back, but their biggest worry is that they did not bring in enough reinforcements in the summer transfer window. Instead some important players left the club - such as Midfielder Beltran who left for Celta Vigo, left-back Mojica is in Girona, while a lot of loans have also expired. They brought in striker Kakuta, and they also brought in the likes of Pozo, Advincula, and center-back Amat.



FC SEVILLA

As they started in the second qualifying round of the Europa League, they have already played a lot of games before the season started. In the Europa League they are now on course for the group stage where they have won the Europa League a total of five times. It was expected as their rivals were much weaker and they scored 13 goals in four games played. Sevilla were totally dominant against teams like Ujpest and Zalgiris. Their most impressive win was against a Lithuanian side which they won by 5-0. In the first leg it was only 1-0 and then they scored four goals in the second leg. In between those two matches they lost to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup. They did not played badly and despite taking the lead they failed to hold on to it. They also had a penalty towards the end but Ben Yedder failed to convert it. In the meantime they sold midfielder N'Zonzi who went to AS Roma, while they brought in striker Andre Silva from Milan. Some of their new signings have already started playing such as goalkeeper Vaclik in goal. However he did not managed to stopped Barcelona from scoring.
