QUEENS PARK RANGERS

One of the popular picks for relegation from the Championship at the beginning of the season were Queens Park Rangers and the start made has only backed up the concerns many had for this club. Off field issues and the decision to appoint Steve McClaren to replace Ian Holloway looked a poor one when it was made, but there were some small signs during the 0-3 defeat to Bristol City that Queens Park Rangers could turn things around. That might sound quite amusing to readers that a 0-3 defeat would be anything but another devastating result for Queens Park Rangers after shipping seven goals in a defeat at The Hawthorns last weekend. However the 'expected goals' from the midweek game against Bristol City suggests QPR were hard done by, although they are now 0-0-2 at home with 1 goal scored and 5 conceded as they have dropped to the bottom of the Division. Queens Park Rangers are the only team in the Championship who have lost all 4 League games played, but they did beat Peterborough United 2-0 in the League Cup to prevent it being a totally disastrous start to the season. They have lost 3 of their last 4 games at Loftus Road in the Championship, although the win over Peterborough United in the Cup did come on this ground.



WIGAN ATHLETIC

The only real ambition for Wigan Athletic this season is reestablishing themselves as a Championship club having proven not quite good enough for this level but far too good for League One in the last few years. The Latics have made a very good start to life back in the Championship this time around and the 0-3 win at Stoke City suggests Wigan Athletic have plenty in the tank to avoid finishing in the bottom three. The 7 points earned by Wigan Athletic in the League means they are up to 8th in the early Championship table but manager Paul Cook will feel they should have had even more points on the board if not for late goals. Aston Villa beat Wigan Athletic with a goal deep into injury time, while Nottingham Forest earned a point in injury time last weekend. Wigan Athletic ended a run of 3 games without a win in all competitions by crushing Stoke City 0-3 at the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday evening. They had opened this season with back to back losses at Aston Villa in the Championship and at Rotherham United in the English League Cup before the win at Stoke City.



HEAD TO HEAD

Queens Park Rangers did the League double over Wigan Athletic two seasons ago which included a 2-1 victory over them at Loftus Road. Queens Park Rangers are unbeaten in 6 home games against Wigan Athletic and they have won 5 of those games.
