INTRODUCTION
The Super Cup will be the trophy two teams will battle for before the start of the new season. Last season PSV Eindhoven won the title without any problems, as they claimed the title from Feyenoord. Now in the Super Cup they will face Feyenoord who won a trophy in the season. Last season PSV spent most of the time at the top of the standings and had a big point difference in front of Ajax in second place. Feyenoord only managed to finished fourth and they failed to defend their title. They were however good in the Cup and even managed to defeat PSV
PSV EINDHOVEN
They won the title last season in greast style. After they became the leaders after the fifth round, they were never in any trouble as nobody could challenged them. They did miserably in the Europa League where they were beaten in the first round of qualifying. But that was a blessing in disguise as they played better in the Championships after that. They were beaten by Feyenoord in the quarter finals of the Cup so now they will have a reason to beat them in the Super Cup although they did beat them twice in the Championships. In the last four years they have won the Championships three times. Despite being the Champions, they decided to get a new coach and now they will have Mark van Bommel as their new coach. They sold Arias to Atletico Madrid and then they brought in Dumfries from Heerenveen, and Viergever is now back after his loan to Ajax. They also brought in Angelino into the side.
FEYENOORD
Despite winning the Cup they failed to defend the title they won last season. They also played in the Champions League but they performed very badly. After losing their first five games they managed to win one game but that does not change anything as they finished bottom of the group. In the Championships they struggled for sometime but then they managed to record eight wins in a row. In the Cup they defeated PSV in quarterfinals and Willem II in semifinals, and then in the final they beat AZ Alkmaar. They have decided to keep faith with coach van Bronckhorst for another season. They did not bring in new faces into the side rather their players who were on loan are now returning back to the side. They will now have midfielder Clasie who returns after his loan to Southampton, as well as midfielder Ayoub who returned from Utrecht. They will not have their first goalkeeper Vermeer as he is out injured while veteran Jones have departed the side.
