INTRIDUCTION

Two teams that are out of contention for the finals but do pair up quite nicely to offer some good odds if we can find the right option.

PARRAMATTA EELS

Parramatta nearly pulled an almighty upset in the last round by racing out to a solid lead against the top of the table Rabbitohs, only for a typical 2018 capitulation by the Eels to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The eels lead the competition front runners 6-18 at HT and looked in complete control. The second half was a polar opposite where the eels only managed one penalty goal to take their score to 20 while the Rabbits put on 4 unanswered tries, one right at the death to take the victory. This just highlights yet again how the Eels have lost the ability to win and are mentally struggling, even with a good roster. The Titans will be a good opposition for the Eels who also suffer by switching off mentally in periods of the game meaning a lot of points conceded and points scored in clumps much like the Eels. Gutherson is probably the Eels most consistant player and has made the fullback spot his own, a good game from him will help the Eels a long way in this one. George Jennings returns, Brad Takairangi to the bench. Reed Mahoney starts at hooker for Kaysa Pritchard who dislocated his shoulder for yet another injury with Jaemon Salmon to debut as the bench utility. Tim Mannah starts at prop with Daniel Alvaro (knee/concussion) out. Kane Evans has been recalled to the bench.

GOLD COAST TITANS

Gold Coast had an impressive win in the last round toppling a top 8 side in the Warriors who had the best away record in the NRL and a 14 from 15 winning run against the Gold coast franchise. The final score was not even close 36-12 after a brilliant second half where the Warriors were held scoreless and a 5 try to none second half. Gold Coast fullback Michael Gordon also had a great day with the boot slotting 5 from 6 and being involved in some wonderful long range tries. His kicking goal kicking game could be very important in this one. Young half Brimson was a standout and has big wraps on him by most pundits, I was impressed with his defence and although there are mistakes in his game, Brimson makes up for that with enthusiasm and youthful skill. No team changes for the GC.
