Explicacion

INTRODUCTION

This thrid round clash will be between Turkish side Basaksehir against English Premier League side Burnley. While this is the first appearance for Basaksehir, it will be the second time Burnley are playing in the Europa League after they managed to beat Scottish side Aberdeen but they needed extra time to do that.



ISTANBUL BASAKSEHIR

Last season they were fighting with Fenerbahce for the title but due to a poor goal difference, they were left without a place in the Champions League. But the fact they are in the Europa League is still a success for them. Last season they managed to play in the group stage as well in the Europa League and even though they were better then Club Brugge in the Champions League qualifiers, but then they were eliminated from Sevilla in the playoffs. They have been led by coach Avci since 2014. In the summer transfer window he brought in only two new players which shows the great confidence he has in the team. The two players are the likes of midfielders Jojic from Cologne and Aydogood from Akhisar. The only player they lost were experienced center-back Korkmaz. As for the team news they will not have experienced midfielder Turan as he was suspended at the start of the championships, so coach Avci is not likely to use him in the Europa League.



BURNLEY

Last season Burnley surprised many in the English Premier League when they finished seventh in the standings in the end and thus qualified for the Europa League in the end. They had problems against Scottish Aberdeen as they played a 1-1 draw at home, and then in the return leg it also ended 1-1. But they scored two goals in extra time to qualified for the next round. Now having passed the first obstacle they will have more confidence againt the Turkish side Basaksehir now, playing in Istanbul. So we could now see coach Dyche playing a more defensive setup and try to get the win at home. As for the team news, they will not have the services of goalkeepers Pope and Heaton and midfielders Brady and Defour while striker Wood is rated doubtful.
