INTRODUCTION



The first match of La Liga will be between Girona and Valladolid who returns to the La Liga after promotion from Segunda last season. Girona will be playing their second season in La Liga, having done well in their first season and their target this season is to keep playing well. Meanwhile Valladolid returns to La Liga after an absence of four years and their target is to no doubt stay in La Liga once again.







GIRONA



Last season they finsihed tenth in La Liga and that can be considered as great achievement for them as it was their first season in the elite division and many had predicted they would be fighting against relegation. In the end they were even battling for positions that led to the Europa League and now what is certain is that no team will take them lightly anymore. They are no longer with coach Machin, and they have brought in coach Eusebio to take over the team now. They are still playing with three strikers, which tormented many defences last season. They did not change the team much and the only departure was Maffe out of the team. They brought in Muniesa and Mojica into the team and their lineup is not much different from last season. In their pre season matches they beat a mixed Tottenham team but lost to Reus.







VALLADOLID



They are back in the La Liga after four years absence but they had to do it the hard way as they finished fifth and had to play four games to get to the La Liga as the third team to get promoted. In thiose four games they managed to defeat Sporting twice, while they managed to beat Numancia and the other game was a draw. Despite gaining promotion, they failed to keep their best players and as a result striker J.Mate has left the club and this will be a great loss to them. Other then that some players on loan have returned to their respective clubs so it will not be an easy season in La Liga. The players that came into the side were mostly on loan again and they are the likes of midfielders Keko, Ivi and Verde who came from Roma. Coach Sergio has remained as their head coach and in their friendly games they did not managed to score many goals.

They last met two seasons ago in the Segunda division and both teams won at home by 2-1.
