Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt are the German Cup Winners and this will be their first official match of the new season. They have a very different team now, with new coach in Adi Hutter replacing Niko Kovac who joined rivals Bayern Munich. There are also a few new players in the team and obviously this team needs some time before it starts showing good performances and delivering positive results. Eintracht Frankfurt showed some mixed displays in the pre-season matches. Their performances were mostly poor and uninspiring, and they seem to be a much weaker side than they were last season. In the preparation period they lost three of their four matches and those defeats came against average sides of SPAL, Empoli and Philadelphia Union. Eintracht Frankfurt have a new goalkeeper for this season - Frederik Rönnow, who was not very secure between the sticks in the preparation period. Probably the biggest blow for the team is the departure of their attacking midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, who was their best player last season.



Bayern Munich Bayern

Munich were defeated last May by Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup Final and will seek a revenge for that defeat. This will be their third straight Super Cup Final appearance and they have won the previous two finals against their biggest rivals Borussia Dortmund. Bavarians are starting this season with a new coach and renewed side with a couple of new faces. Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry are new players who will likely start in this game. James Rodriguez, Jerome Boateng and Sandro Wagner did not practice last week and all of them are doubtful for selection in this match. Leading to this match, Bayern Munich played at the International Champions Cup in the USA this summer, where they lost in two of their three games. However, they played with a much weaker squad as most of the first-team players were away on vacation after the World Cup. Winning against Manchester United with 1-0 in their last match there certainly boosted their confidence in front of this first official game of the new season.



THE BETTING VERDICT

Both sides have changed since last season, but Bayern Munich still remains a class above Eintracht Frankfurt in terms of quality. Despite the fact that this game will be played on Eintracht Frankfurt`s home stadium, I believe that Bayern Munich will have no problems winning this match. Odds on the away win are understandably short, so I will look for other options that should provide better payoff. Considering that this match has an exhibition character, we should see a few goals scored. Bayern Munich have a few players that will want to impress and I believe they will be able to score at least once in each half. Bayern Munich to score in both halves is my main recommendation for this match.
