INTRODUCTION

In the first match, Leipzig was managed to beat Universitatea Craiova by 3-1 in their home field. Craiova will hope that their one goal they scored will give them confidence in the second leg as they host the German Bundesliga side. Leipzig has already played one qualifying round and they qualified with ease, and their championship season has not started yet. Craiova has already played four championship rounds and this is the first time they are playing in the Europa League.



UNIVERSITATEA CRAIOVA

Last season they won the Romanian Cup, and as a reward they are playing in the Europa League this season. In the final of the Romanian Cup, against all odds they managed to beat favourites Hermannstadt to win by 2-0. In the end they finished third in the Romanian Championships and that would also have brought them a place in Europe. They could not battle for the championship title as the two top teams aboive them were too far ahead of them, so all things considered, the third place was the best they could have achieved. At the beginning of the season they were beaten by Cluj in the Super Cup as they lost by 1-0. They did not have the best of starts in their domestic championships as they had two draws and a defeat in the first three rounds. They got their first win in the last round when they beat Dunarea by 3-1 away from home. The player to watch will be their Captain Mitrita as he has scored four goals for them this season in the Championships, while the likes of goalkeeper Pigliacelli, center-back Donkor, and midfielders Fedele and Cicaldau have fought their place in the starting lineup.



RB LEIPZIG

Last season can be consideresd as poor for them as they could only finished sixth in the Championships. That means they had to start pre season and earlier then most teams in the Europa League qualifying rounds. They started in the second round of the Europa League where they managed to beat Swedish Hacken by 4-0 in the first leg at home and in the second leg away they played a 1-1 draw. Against Craiova they scored three goals but then conceded a late injury goal, which means they need to be more cautious in this second leg now. In their first three games, coach Rangnick did not used all the players available to him as he is careful with his most important players. The likes of Upamecano, Laimer and Halstenberg are out with injuries, while star stariker Ti.Werner has yet tio start for them. Some of their new players have already been given starts in the team such as Bruno, Cunha and Saracchi.
