INTRODUCTION

The 16th round of the Brazilian Serie A will be between Cruzeiro in sixth spot and Sao Paulo in second spot which will be played in Belo Horizonte. They are separated by five point in the standings and their current form is roughly equal. Both suffered a defeat in their last match after a good run of results. Cruzeiro were beaten on their travels by Corinthians after four matches without a defeat, while Sao Paolo lost to Gremio after five matcheswithout defeat where four matches were victories.



CRUZEIRO

They started the season quite average but as the season goes on they started to play much better. They did experienced a run of three games without a win and after that they won back to back games. In their last match they were beaten away from home by reigning Champions Corinthians. This season they have not scored a lot of goals where they only scored 24 in 15 games played. They also scored less goals then when they concede goals. In the five games they have suffered defeats they failed to scored in any of those games as well. Only in two of their matches there have been three or more goals, and that was at the last two victories when they won after coming back from behind in the game. Last season they won the Cup and this season they are hoping to defend it as they are in the last 16 now. As for the team news, Manager Manezes is likely to make changes to the side, but definitely out due to suspension will be Lucas Silva.



SAO PAULO

Based on their results this season, they are still fighting to become Champion and at the moment they are only two points behind leaders Flamengo. In the last round they were overtaken by Flamengo to the top spot after they lost for only the second time this season. Prior to that they were leading the Championships after winning their last four games in a row. They did not have a good start at the beginning of the season as they had an eight game winless run despite losing just once in the process. That was against Palmeiras away from home but all their other matches ended in stalemates. In their last match they knew it would not be an easy match against Gremio away from home, but despite taking the lead in the game they ended up losing the match. It was obvious the match with Corinthians had taken its toll on them from the previous round where they won by 3-1. In their last match only Edimar did not featured and his position was taken up by Everton instead. Ahead of this match now manager Aguirre has problems as he has to cope with suspensions which means that Arboledo, Militao and Hudson will miss out. Coming in for them will be the likes of B. Alves, Araruna and Luan.
