INTRODUCTION
Sunday afternoon footy from Shark Park hosts the Sharks v Cowboys where the winner looks an obvious one – but with JT’s Career coming to an end and just three games left to go does the little maestro have some magic left to show us and cause an almighty upset??
CRONULLA SHARKS
Cronulla are firmly in the top 8 now, currently sitting 6th, 5th equal with the Warriors and Dragons and just one win away from the top 4. Their run home is pretty good too, with 2 bottom placed sides to face prior to finals – Knights then Bulldogs. Last week the Sharks faced a mammoth test against last year’s champions Melbourne Storm. It was a superb match with great play and excellent defence with both sides making some incredible try saving tackles. In the end the Sharks won by 3 points, 14-17, a massive result for the Sharks away from home. Valentine Holmes had a brilliant match amongst his brilliant season in 2018, he managed to save a try score one himself and produce some magic in saving a certain 40/20. He is alos now leading the try scorers list with 19, two clear of his nearest rival. Wade Graham is out with a knee injury, Scott Sorensen comes in with Kurt Capewell added to the bench.
NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS
Somehow winning last week the Cowboys actually dropped to 16th as the Eels who are on equal points absolutely walloped the Dragons. That now means the Cowboys along with the Dogs and Eels are in a battle for the spoon all joint last on a measly 14 points. That victory over their big brother, the Brisbane Broncos was a classic. Final score 34-30 with a late try to Coen Hess sealing the victory in a high scoring grudge match. Ultimately it was a 5 try to 4 effort that at least provided the Cowboys faithful fans some excitement this season, which has not gone to plan. The Cowboys are 2-8 away from home this season managing victories against the Panthers in round 9 and the Sea Eagles in round 13, in other words quite some time ago. North Queensland have their best forward, Jason Taumalolo out suspended, which will only dent their hopes of causing an upset away from home. Jordan Mclean, Matt Scott need to step up their performances to account for Taumalolo’s absence. John Asiata replaces the suspended Jason Taumalolo at lock, with Francis Molo joining the interchange.
