INTRODUCTION

The first round of the Bundesliga 2 will see the clash between two teams who fared very poorly last season. Bochum was mostly in the lower half of the standings and only began to play better towards the end of the Championships. FC Cologne did very poorly and finished bottom in the Bundesliga. Interestingly Cologne played in the Europa League and did very badly. Last season they were mostly at the lower half of the standings and just abovie the relegation zone, and just as the season was coming to an end, they managed to go nine matches without defeat and that propelled them to the top part of the standings and in the end they finished remarkably in sixth position in the Bundesliga 2. It was not a fantastic season for them so they will want to do better now. During the season they even changed their coach who was Atalan and he was replaced with Rasiejewski. And then in the middle of the season they brought in Robin Dutt as their coach. Considering that he was the one responsible for their good results towards the end of the season so he will be kept as their coach this season. As for the team news, their biggest loss will be the departure of midfielder Stoger. In his place they brought in Sebastian Maier who will be in the starting lineup for this match. Weilandt has also returned to the side after a loan spell. Other tyhen that there was not much transfer activity in the summer. The likes of Bandowski and Eisfeld are out injured.



1.FC COLOGNE
After a poor season they were relegated to the Bundesliga as they finished bottom of the Bundesliga. It was an unexpected turn of events as before that they were playing in the Europa League. But even then they failed to shine in the Europa League. In the Bundesliga they were constantly in the relegation zone, from the start of the season right until the end of the season. ZAnd to sum it up they were always at the bottom of the standings and only once in the start of the second half of the championships there was a glimmer of hope for them that they might escape relegation and that did not happen. After putting their trust in coach Stoger for a long period of time, they decided to terminate his contract. Then they brought in Stefan Ruthenbeck to save them but that did not helped either. Now their target is to make a comeback to the Bundesliga although a lot of their players have left the team as they are now playing in the Bundesliga 2. The likes of Klunter, Maroh, Heintz and Olkowski have departed the side, as well as midfielders Jojic and Bittencourt, and striker Osako. They brought in two midfielders, the likes of Drexler and Schaub, stopper Czichos, while their new coach is now Markus Anfang.
