INTRODUCTION

Last season Betis finished in sixth spot and a place in the Europa League. On the other hand, Levante finished 14 points less and in the lower half of the standings.



REAL BETIS

Thanks largely to their second half performances they finished in sixth place and with it a place in the Europa League as well. No doubt that coach Setien got the best of his team and they fully deserved to play in the Europa League. It remains to be seen how they will fare in the Europa League but no doubt it will be more difficult with the large number of games they have to play. They have replaced goalkeepers Adan and Gimenez from the side and brought in Pau Lopez and Robles in between the posts. They also brought in Sidnei who plays in centre back. They also brought in the likes of W. Carvalho, Inui and Canales to replace Fabian Ruiza and Durmisi who have departed the side. They managed to beat Las Palmas by 4-0 in their last friendly match, and now they will be without the likes of Joaquin, J.Garcia and Tello due to injuries.



LEVANTE

They had a topsy turvy season since their comeback season in La Liga, from a great start, and then 15 matches without a win, and then finishing off very well to avoid the relegation zone. No doubt that the arrival of coach Paco Lopez towards the end has brought them life and he will certainly wants to keep their positive momentum going. They did not lose many players in the transfer window, and the players that have come in are the ones returning from loans or the ones that they decided to buy after loan periods with them. They did sold off midfielder Lerma to Bournemouth in the Premier League, which was a club record in terms of transfers. From the money they got, they used it to bring in defensive midfielder Vukcevic from Braga as well as midfielder Simon from Gena. On the other hand, Dwamena from Zurich came to reinforce the attack. Simon will not start this match for sure in midfield, and it remains to be seen if coach Lopez will send the new players out as well.
