INTRODUCTION

Both sides have won six times in the qualifers of the Europa League. Bordeaux has played four games and they were not very impressive in their wins, but they had beaten Ventspils and Mariupol twice, while Gent defeated Polish Jagielloni twice. Gent has played four rounds in the Belgian Championships and after a poor start, Gent has won in their last two matches. Bordeaux has lost two matches in the French Ligue 1.



KAA GENT

Since suffering a defeat in the first round of the Belgian Jupiler League, when they were the visitors to Standard Liege, then a draw with Waragem at home, they have since made four wins - two in the championship and two in qualifiers for Europa League. In the third qualifying round they came up against Polish side Jagiellonia and after they won by 1-0 away from home, then they won by 3-1 at home in the second leg. They started to play better after that and they beat Beveren by 4-1, while in their last amcth they beat Eupen by 3-2. Their winner came in injury time, despite being with one player less on the field. Even though Odjidja-Ofoe is suspended in their domestic competition, he will be able to play in the Europa League while center-back Bronna continue to miss out. Meanwhile, Striker Awoniyi has adjusted to being in the team, together with the likes of Plastun on the center-back and Limbombe in midfield.



GIRONDINS BORDEAUX

Bordeaux have changed their coach so early in the season as they decided to replace Gustavo Poyet with Eric Bedouet. Things happened in their second round match with Toulouse and no doubt it had affected the team. They were beaten by Toulouse by 2-1 and that was their second defeat after they were beaten in their first match by Strasbourg. Against Toulouse, they played most of the match with one player less after the sending off of center-back Pablo. They have got passed two round in the Europa League, but they were not impressive. They beat Ventspils twice by slim margins and against Mariupol they were only a little bit more convincing. Bedouet, their new coach did not made much changes in their match against Toulouse, but new midfielder Kalu did get a chance to start and new striker Briand entered the field from the bench in th second half. Palencia played in the last line as Pablo could not play. Right back Sabaly is not available, while, Briand should start this match this time.
