INTRODUCTION

The final of the Women's singles will be between American Serena William and Japanese Naomi Osaka. In the semi finals, Williams outclassed A. Sevastova, while Osaka defeated M.Keys both without dropping a set.



SERENA WILLIAMS

Serena Williams did more then was expected of her in her quest to return to the Top 10 in the World. Despite just returning to the tennis courts after giving birth Williams is still better than her competitors it has to be said. Getting to the final just illustrates her dominance over the other players. It can be said that Williams is also far more superior then the other players and she can make up for loss of speed with pure strength. It can be said that her opponent in the semi finals, A. Sevestova had felt the full force of Williams strength of hitting the ball, as she managed to win just three games. No doubt that all the statistics was also on Williams side.



NAOMI OSAKA

Osaka is a young tennis player and she has already created history by reaching the final of the US Open by a Japanese player. Her victory over Madison Keys in the semifinals was certainly a surprise and she was not expected to get this far let alone reach the final of the US Open. She played well throughout the entire US Open and regardless of how the final goes she can be more then satisfied at how it has turned out. In the semi finals she managed to beat last year's beaten finalist in Madison Keys. She broke many American hearts when she prevented an All American final when she certainly outplayed Keys, who was no doubt the favourite to win. In terms of statistics, Keys didn't do too badly but in terms of unforced errors, she made more as she had 32-20. That is why even though she dominated the first service and large number of 1st serve points won, it was not enough for her to win the match.



PAST MEETINGS

They have only ever met once and that was at the Masters in Miami. Even though Osaka won 6-3, 6-2 but it should be borne in mind that Willians was just making her comeback tot eh tennis courts after the birth of her child.
