Schalke 04

Schalke 04 played really strange away match against Wolfsburg last week. They started well and were the better side in the opening half hour of the game, but as the game progressed they let Wolfsburg ran them over. Not only they lost the last game with 2-1, but their defender Matija Nastasic was shown a straight red card and now he is suspended for this game and for the next game as well. Anyhow, Schalke 04 have a good recent head to head record against Hertha Berlin, winning in four of their last six matches. Schalke 04 also won in each of their last six home games against Hertha Berlin and are once again big favorites for picking up three points here. Schalke 04 did a good job during the week signing Bayern Munich`s midfielder Sebastian Rudy. He is expected to strengthen their midfield and will likely start in this game in favor of the American International Weston McKennie.



Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin opened their season by narrowly beating Bundesliga newcomers Nurnberg with 1-0 at home. Although the result does not show it, Hertha Berlin played really well and created many chances to score. They had a few clear chances that should have been converted into goals, but Hertha Berlin`s strikers are still not fully match fit. Not many changes in the team are expected for this game, which means that Hertha Berlin will once again play with two strikers in the line-up in Vedad Ibisevic and Salomon Kalou. Hertha Berlin`s recent away matches have produced quite a few goals, with each of their last four away games ending with at least three goals scored.



THE BETTING VERDICT

Schalke 04 look stronger than Hertha Berlin on paper, but they were not very convincing in their opening match against Wolfsburg. However, Schalke 04 usually shows better displays at home plus they have a fantastic home record against Hertha Berlin in the recent seasons. In this game I would go with Schalke 04 recording their first victory of the season.
