Nurnberg narrowly lost with 1-0 away against Hertha Berlin in their first game after being promoted, but they should do better in this game. Actually Nurnberg were pretty good in their opening game, but were really unlucky in some situations. Their Swedish top striker Mikael Ishak even missed a penalty kick in that match. Anyhow, the pressure is now off of Nurnberg and Mainz are ideal opponents to face at the beginning of the season. Interesting fact is that Nurnberg have remained unbeaten against Mainz in eight consecutive games played at their stadium in Nurnberg, but their last duel dates back in December of 2013. Team captain Hanno Behrens complained to a knock after last week`s game, so he is doubtful for selection in this match. He is one of the most influential players in Nurnberg`s team, scoring 14 team goals last season in 2.Bundesliga.



Mainz

Mainz have one of the youngest squads in the Bundesliga this season. They opened the season really well by beating Vfb Stuttgart with 1-0 at home last week. Last week`s victory will give Mainz confidence in front of this match, but bad news is that they will be without their creative midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin in this match. He suffered a torn muscle in the last game and will be out of the team for up to a month. Argentinean attacking midfielder Pablo de Blasis is questionable for selection after complaining to a knock in the last match.



THE BETTING VERDICT

This will be Nurnberg`s first home game in the Bundesliga after spending four years in the 2.Bundesliga. They will surely be motivated to grab an important win before the International break and I expect them to push for the three points. Last week`s victory gave Mainz some space to breathe and I expect careful approach by them in this match. Both sides have problems with injured players and are almost equal in quality. Due to the home field advantage and the recent home record against Mainz, I give Nurnberg bigger chances to win this match at valuable odds.
