INTRODUCTION

This is the last match of the sixth round between Lorient in fourth spot taking on Grenoble in 11th spot in French Ligue 2. They are separated by three points in the standings. Lorient is one of three teams who have yet to be beaten this season.



FC LORIENT

Although Lorient spent some time in Ligue 1, but now this is their second season in Ligue 2 and no doubt their target is to return to Ligue 1 next season. Last season the team led by manager Landreau needed just three points more to reached the promotion play off. They are now more experienced as well as have bought new players in the transfer window and that brought them instant results. In their first five matches of the new season they won three and drew two matches. Lorient are now behind leaders Metz by some four points. They also managed to beat Velenciennes and AC Ajaccio from the French League Cup, despite playing with mostly reserved players. Now Lorient will bring back their key players for this match but due to injuries, the likes of defender Pereira and experienced midfielders Delaplace and Marveaux will miss this match.



GRENOBLE FOOT

The last time Grenoble played against Lorient was eight years ago. After that defeat they went all the way down to the fourth division. Grenoble returned to Ligue 2 after two years and they are now in the middle of the standings after five rounds played. Other then Metz, the only other team to beat them was Ajaccio in the league so far this season. In both those games they were the visitors. Last weekend they drew with Chateauroux 0-0 at home. Of late, Manager Hinschberger seldom makes changes to their team lineup. Due to injuries the likes of stoppers Boyer and Taravel, and winger Tirard will miss this match.

The last time they met was eight years ago in Ligue 1 and Lorient won away by 2-1.
