INTRODUCTION

Last season both teams had a very good season. This season Levante started much better and that is certainly a surprise when considering the quality of these two teams. Levante started with a 3-0 win away against Real Betis, while Valencia is still waiting for their first win after they started with a home draw and away defeat.



LEVANTE

At the moment Levante plays better away from home as they played much better away on their travels at Benito Villamarin when they beat Real Betis by 3-0. In the second round they welcomed the visit of Celta Vigo but they were beaten 1-2 at home. When the first half concluded they were down by two goals already. In the second half they managed a consolation goal which came from the penalty spot scored by Morales. That was his third goal after two games for them. He scored two goals against Real Betis in their first game. Naturally it was undertsandable that coach Lopez will not changed their winnind side that had beaten Real Betis by 3-0 but he did make one change, and that was bringing on Pier instead of Chema at centre back. Now we could see Coke being the only new name for this match and possibly Boateng could start in attack.



VALENCIA

Last seaosn they had a brilliant start and they were not beaten for a long time so it was not a surprised they eventually finished fourth in the standings. This season things started out differently as they have only one point after two matches played. They got that point after their opening match when they welcomed the visit of Atletico Madrid to the Mestalla and it ended in a 1-1 draw. They were down by a goal in that match so to come back and scored the equalizer against the calibre of a team like Atletico Madrid is a good achievement indeed. In the second round they were expected to get a win against Espanyol but instead they were beaten by 2-0 and even failed to hit any shots on target. Their centre back Garay was injured against Atletico Madrid so he did not play against Espanyol. His place in the side was taken up by their new signing from Lyon - Diakhaby. That was the only change they had made in the side. They lost striker Zaza in the meantime and then managed to buy midfielder Guedes from PSG, who played for them last season on loan. Now he will start this match from the first minute.



PAST MEETINGS

Last season it ended in a 1-1 draw when Levante hosted, while Valencia won by 3-1 at the Mestalla.
