INTRODUCTION

The second semi final in the women's singles will be between American Madison Keys and Japanese Naomi Osaka. Both tennis players got through their matches with ease in their quarter final as Keys defeated C. Suarez Navarro by 2-0, while Osaka also beat L. Tsurenko without dropping a set.



MADISON KEYS

It cannot be denied that Keys has a lot of experience when it comes to Grand Slam finals. After all last year she was beaten in the final by Sloane Stephens so this time around she will be determined to get to the final. Keys also played in the Australian Open semi-finals in 2015, and this season she also played in the semi finals of the French Open. Her best result in a Grand Slam is still at the US Open when she reached the final but lost to fellow American S. Stephens. This season she did not achieved much in the WTA tour except for her appearance in the semi-finals of the French Open. Her ratio of wins and defeats before the US Open is at 21 wins and 11 defeats. She is currently 14th in the WTA rankings and in her career she has managed to win three titles so far. In her quarter finals against Navarro, Keys had complete control over the match and all the statistics were on her side as well.



NAOMI OSAKA

Osaka is only 20 years only and no doubt this is one of her best achievement in her career in reaching the US Open semi finals. She is currently 19th in the WTA rankings coming into the US Open. Her win and loss ratio stands at 28 wins and 15 defeats. In her career, she has won one WTA title, when she won at the Masters in Indian Wells, defeating D. Kasatkina in the finals. At the Australian Open she reached the fourth round and she did well at the tournament in Nottingham where she reached the semi finals, but was beaten by A. Berty. In the quarter finals of the US Open against L. Tsurenko, she hardly raised a sweat as won in 59 minutes as the final result reads 6:1 6:1.



PAST MEETINGS

They have met three times so far and Keys won all three meetings. This is the second time they are meeting at the US Open, as the first was in 2015 when Keys won 7:5 4:6 7:6
