INTRODUCTION
Italy and Poland will play the first match in Group 3 of the UEFA League of Nations which is also one of the strongest group. Portugal the current European Champions are also in this group. No doubt that Italy and Poland will play this match seriously which will take place in the city of Bologna.
ITALY
After they were surprisingly beaten by Sweden in the playoffs for the World Cup at the end of last year, now Italy will want to redeem themselves in the best possible way in the League of Nations as well as the qualifiers for the EURO 2020. It has to be pointed out that failure to qualify for the World Cup was the one and only time that the Italians has failed to qualify for such a big competition in their history, so it is little surprise that they have brought in a new coach in May this year. They brought in Robert Mancini as their new coach. In his debut as the coach they managed to beat Suadi Arabia by 2-1 in a friendly and then in two more friendly matches they were ebaten by France 3-1 and then they drew against Netherlands 1-1 in Turin. Mancini has not called up the likes of defenders Florenzi, D'Ambrosio, and de Sciglio, midfielders Verratti and Mandragora, and wing strikers Verdi, Politano and El Shaarawy for this match.
POLAND
In the recent World Cup in Russia, Poland was a letdown considering that they finished top of their group in the qualifiers. In the World Cup, after two matches they were beaten by the likes of Senegal and Colombia, so even though they managed to beat Japan 1-0 they still ended up last in their group. So it was no surprise that coach Nawalki was sacked after the World Cup, and he was replaced by Brzeczek, who led only a few Polish clubs in his coaching career. Poland will not be able to count on the likes of defenders Pazdan, Cionek and Jedrzejczyk and strikers Grosicki, Kownacki, Teodorczyk and Stepinski for this match.
PAST MEETINGS
They last met seven years ago in Wroclaw which Italy won by 2-0.
