INTRODUCTION

This is one of the most interesting matches of the third round of Serie A as Fiorentina welcomes the visit of Udinese. Last weekend both teams managed to win their matches played at home. Prior to that, Udinese drew with Parma away, while Fiorentina's clash with Sampdoria was postponed due to the tragedy in Genoa.



FIORENTINA

The home faithful will expect nothing less then a win here against Udinese, especially as they easily beat Chievo last weekend at home by 6-1. Manager Pioli had used five new players in that match such as the likes of goalkeeper Lafone, defenders Pezzella and Biraghi, as well as midfielders Fernandes and Gerson. In the second half the likes of midfielder Norgaard and winger Pjaca came on the field. Fiorentina also bought five new players and Pioli has improved his side in every department. Last season they were having problems and as a result failed to qualified for the Europa League. Before the start of the season, several players left the side such as goalkeeper Sportiella, and midfielders Badelj and Saponara. As for the team news, they will be without midfielder Veretout who is out on suspension, while striker Thereau is out injured.



UDINESE

In the first two rounds they managed to win four points. They started with a draw away from home with Parma 2-2. In their next match they managed to beat Sampdoria 1-0 at home. However they were eliminated in the Coppa Italia by Benevento after extra time at the start of the season. So it is not a surprise that new manager Velazguez decided to buy new players to improve their side. That paid off as after that they began to play much better in the league. They brought in the likes of stopper Troost-Ekong, midfielder Mandragora and winger Machis, while Polish striker Teodorczyk came off the bench against Sampdoria and showed how valuable he is to the team. Now they will not have the likes of Mandragora who is suspended, while midfielders Badu and Balic, and striker Inglesson misses out through injury.
