INTRODUCTION
Finland and Hungary failed to qualify for the last World Cup, so now they will be looking to make amends at the League of Nations.
FINLAND
Finland is now welcoming Hungary in better form as in their last ten games played they have only been beaten once and that was in a friendly match with Romania. In their other friendly matches they managed a win over Estonia, Jordan, Malta and Belarus. They managed a draw with Macedonia. In their last match of the qualifiers for the World Cup they managed a home win over Iceland and away win over Kosovo. They also managed a draw with Croatia away from home and a draw with Turkey at home. Despite playing well in their last four matches, Finland only managed to finished fifth in their group. Now they will want to do better in the League of Nations as wella s the forthcoming qualifiers for the European Championship 2020. Now it is not likely that coach Kanerva will make much chaanges to the side. The likes of centre-backs Moisander, Lam and Ojala, midfielders Hetemaj, Ring, Hamalainen and Jensen, as well as centre-forward Pohjanpalo were not called up for this match with Hungary.
HUNGARY
Despite playing well at the European Championship in France, they could only managed a third place in their group for the qualifiers for the World Cup in Russia. The likes of Portugal and Switzerland finished ahead of them with 14 points more and they were beaten against much easier opponents while they only made one win, one draw, and four defeats in their last six friendly matches. So it is not surprising they brought on Italian Coach Rossi instead to replace the sacked Belgian Leekens. It remains to be seen how the Italian will manage the side without the likes of defenders Korhut and Szabo, midfeidlers Elek, Vadocz, J.Varg and Pinter, and strikers Dzsudzsak and Nemeth in the team.
PAST MEETINGS
Hungary have beaten Finland 1-0 in the qualifiers for EURO 2016 home and away.
