INTRODUCTION

Chievo who have suffered two defeats from their first two games needs to bounce back against Empoli who have had a very impressive start to their season.



CHIEVO

Chievo were somewhat unlucky to lose 3-2 to Champions Juventus despite taking the lead in that match. After that they were thrashed by Fiorentina losing 6-1 in their second game. Noww they will have to quickly forget the dreadful events at the Artemio Franchi as new Coach Lorenza D’Anna will be targetting three points against the newly promoted side Empoli. Chievo knows they have to take advantage of games like this and ensure they get the win here at all costs. The problem is they have seven out of their eleven players who are above the age of 30 so they will need to cope with the visitors fast pace of football. Now they will have to do without the services of Slovenian centre-half Bostjan Cesar, who is a long-term injury absentee after undergoing a knee operation. Other then that Captain Perparim Hetemaj is also a doubt to start this match.



EMPOLI

Empoli have had a maixed start to their life in Serie A as they started with a 2-0 win over Cagliari courtesy of Rade Krunic and Francesco Caputo. In their next match they lost to Genoa by 2-1 away from home. Now Coach Andrea Andreazzoli will hope that his side's fast attacking football can cause problems to slower paced teams such as Cagliari and today's opponent Chievo. They will not have the services of Alejandro Rodriguez, who is on loan from Chievo, misses out through injury as well as defenders Domenico Maietta and Lorenzo Polvani who are out injured.



PAST MEETINGS

Empoli have never managed to get a win here in Serie A in all of their visits. From seven attempts they managed five draws. Their only win here was in Serie B back in April 1997.
