INTRODUCTION

Interestingly they had identical starts to the season as they started their first match with a 1- 1 draw as Celta Vigo drew at home to Espanyol, while Atletico Madrid drew away from home against Valencia also by 1-1. In the second round both teams managed slim wins as Celta beat Levante by 2-1, while Atletico Madrid beat newcomers Rayo Vallecano by 1-0.



CELTA VIGO

They managed to made up for their poor performances in the first round when they beat Levante after only managing a draw with Espanyol at home. They can be satisfied with four points after two matches despite not having difficult opponents. Now they will come up against their toughest opponent so far - a team they do not have a good home record against which is Atletico Madrid. They have experienced changes in their side over the summer with the proviso they also have a new coach in coach Mohamed. They didn't started off too well as they drew at home with Espanyol with a 1-1 scoreline. The new players they brought into the side were the likes of center-back Araujo, Alonso on the left and Beltran in midfield. They were not at full strength in their first match as some players were out due to injury. In their second game when they played against Levante away from home, coach Mohamed changed their formation and played with three strikers upfront. They also had Roncaglia returning to their side. The rest of their team remained unchanged. Their two goals against Levante was scored by Sisto and Maxi Gomez.



ATLETICO MADRID

Other then the win over Real Madrid in the European Super Cup, Atletico Madrid looked ordinary in their first match against Valencia as they failed to get the three points and had to settle for a point. In their first match they brought on midfielder Correa instead of Rodri who played in the Super Cup, and Correa gave them the lead but they failed to keep it until the end. Filipe Luis also started on the left, while L.Hernandez played on the left instead in their second round match against Rayo Vallecano which they won by 1-0. In that match, Koke stayed on the bench, while Rodri returned to the starting lineup. It can be said that they did not played particularly well and were lucky to have won by 1-0, courtesy of striker Antoine Griezmann. Now they will not have the services of right back Juanfran as he was injured in their last match. We could see the debut of Arias who was brought in from PSV in this match. In the centre back we will see Gimenez instead of Savic.
