INTRODUCTION

Cardiff currently in 16th spot welcomes the visit of Arsenal in 13th spot for this first clash on Super Sunday.



CARDIFF

After three games they have yet to win and also yet to score a goal home and away. Their first game was a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth and then they drew 0-0 at home to Newcastle, but in truth they should have lost that game as Newcastle's Kenedy failed to convert from the penalty spot in the last minute of the game. In their last match away from home, Cardiff once again fired blanks but this time they also kept a clean sheet as they drew with Huddersfield 0-0. So it is evident they have problems scoring goals and conceded two goals thus far. The only time they met Arsenal was back in 2013 when Arsene Wenger was still in charge and they lost 0-3 at home.



ARSENAL

Arsenal had a bad start to their season as they were beaten by Manchester City 0-2 at home, then the fixtures list were not kind to them as they played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and lost 3-2 in their following match. Last weekend however Arsenal managed to inflict West Ham's third defeat in a row when they beat them 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium. So they have scored five goals and conceded five goals in their three games played which tells us their defence is not playing as well as it should be at the moment. It is also obvious that Unai Emery needed time to get to know his players and tough games like Manchester City and Chelsea in the first two rounds were too hard for him to handle. He did reprieved himself when they managed to beat West Ham 3-1 in the London derby after that. Even though Emery was not there but Arsenal have a good record against Cardiff winning home and away back in the 2013/2014 season.

In the only two meetings Cardiff played with Arsenal in recent times, Cardiff lost home and away in the 2013/2014 season and conceded five goals.
